ERM AND ISTAT: NEW METHODOLOGIES FOR RISK ANALYSIS AND MANAGEMENT

Catania – Since 2010, ISTAT has launched the Commission for Risk Management within it, adopting the ERM (Enterprise risk Management) model, as a tool for systematic and formal risk management.

According to the ERM, to manage the risks efficiently and effectively, it is important to consider every phase of the business: definition of top management, planning, analysis of management and risk monitoring. Moreover, an additional factor that supports the ERM is an effective regulatory compliance through the development of a platform that can address risks of any kind in every part of the company and allow the creation of internal control mechanisms that not only solve these risks, but they also produce reports and information to the central directives.

The main framework of reference is represented by the Co.SO. (Committee of Sponsorship organizations) Internal Control-Integrated framework, already applied by other public and private organizations, complies with the standards for quality certification of organizational systems.

In this context, it becomes relevant to adopt good risk management in terms of corporate governance and regulatory compliance in public administrations, in line with international trends.
